Maybe this is for expansion? Or maybe a port that was never used due to the short life of the system? I can't find anything about this one.

Also inside the door I see something that looks like some sort of cartridge slot. The 3 volt battery keeps power to some of the RAM that holds the language and clock information if I am not misinterpreting the information I have read. Now I know why it asked me what language I wanted at the beginning. One is a slot for a flat battery that is missing. What is this for? A Modem? From what I read, the modem went into the cartridge slot on top of the unit. The other is labeled Communication Connector. I thought at 1st this was to make the console backwards compatible but as it turns out, it for a memory card or something. There's a CD tray on the top along with a cartridge slot. Obviously there are 2 controller ports on the front. Now I want to know some more about the thing. I mean, they are all right there on one page! So now I have an image on the TV! It booted to a Language select which I could not get past w/o a controller so I could not test the game I have to get a good feel for it. Whether or not he retained it is another story This Link has been a GOD SEND for me messing with different A/V outs. The cool thing is I got to walk my nephew through it this time. Then I stripped down some stereo RCA wires, tinned them with some solder (to give them a little more strength), and jammed them into the correct holes. To check the A/V outputs, I pulled up the pin outs for it. I had a power cord that fit so that was no problem. I had 3 Genesis and 2 of them were model 2 so it was a win win for both of us.

I traded him a Genesis 2 with 2 controllers, 6 games, RF and PS for it. I decided that since he's 10, he really couldn't do anything with it so I hooked him up. No cords, no controllers, Nothing! It had the Daytona game inside it though.

So it's 2011 and I finally got a Sega Saturn.
